Howie is a 3 year old Lab/Border Collie Mix. He was rescued from a kill shelter in Carthage, IL and went through heartworm treatment. He is completely free of heartworms now and is looking for a great home. Howie is a very social boy with people and loves kids as well. He is excellent with dogs and does OK with cats although he does like to chase them. He is crate-trained and does not make a peep in it overnight. This smart boy already knows how to "sit" but would enjoy learning more. He can be timid in new situations but warms up quickly. He would love a new family who would just sit and pet him all day long! He does not jump up on people and also does not counter-surf. He is a very calm boy who would just like to sit at your feet. A fenced yard is preferred for Howie, however, he may be able to adjust to a home by being leash-walked; he would not do well in a home off-leash.
