Adopting a Companion from Foster Pet Outreach

They're Healthy! All pets in our care are examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated, tested and treated for worms, fleas, ticks and ear mites, plus spayed or neutered. Both dogs and cats are microchipped.

They've had their shots! Dogs receive vaccines against distemper, hepatitis, respiratory infections (including kennel cough), Parvo virus, and rabies.

They want to meet you!  We interview prospective adopters to insure a good match. Once we have an idea of which pet will fit best in your family, we'll bring the foster pet to your home for a visit with family members and other pets in the household. Foster Pet Outreach then requires a 24 hour waiting period before placing a pet in a new home, giving you time to think about this as a family and make preparations for your new pet.

They're such a good deal! Our adoption fee is $175.

Look what a typical veterinarian charges for just some of what Foster Pet Outreach provides:

Physical exam

$46
Vaccinations $35

Heartworm test and preventative

$43
Rabies vaccination and registration $21
Fecal exam for parasites and worming $24
Spay or neuter $163
TOTAL COST TO FOSTER PET OUTREACH

$332

That's not counting microchipping, monthly flea and heartworm protection and any other health issues that may arise. Generous donations from kind animal lovers have helped keep our adoption fees affordable for all.

What we expect from you:

We hope that enough thought and care is put into each adoption that this will be a forever home. If you realize that the match is not quite perfect, we expect that the animal will be returned to Foster Pet Outreach. Hopefully, this decision will be final soon after the adoption, but we will take an animal back at any point in their life.

We require dogs be kept indoors, with adequate outdoor exercise time, and remain up to date on all vaccinations during the life of the pet. Loose roaming or chaining is not acceptable.

We limit our adoptions to an area within approximately 60 miles of Peoria, Illinois. We are all volunteers, with jobs and families. Each adoption takes hours of our time, and travel expenses from our own pockets.

Out of State adoptions are just Out of the Question!

Each of these animals has already suffered the loss of at least one home.  Foster Pet Outreach is committed to seeing that the next home will be permanent. To help our volunteers do this, we ask you to fill out an adoption application. This does not guarantee you will be able to adopt this pet, but rather, helps us to match the correct pet with the proper family.
